Guitarist Paul Galbraith will perform at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls on Monday, April 11 as part of the de Blasiis Chamber Music Series.
The concert, which will be held in the Helen Froehlich auditorium, starts at 7:30 pm. It will be followed by a reception. Tickets at the door are $20 for adults and $5 for students.
Galbraith is an internationally renowned innovator on the classical guitar; expanding the technical limits of his instrument and augmenting the quantity and quality of its repertoire.
Galbraith, who was born in Scotland in 1964, will perform works from the classical repertoire, as well his own arrangements of folk songs.
In 1989, Galbraith exchanged a traditional guitar for an eight-string Brahms guitar which he developed with the English luthier David Rubio and on which he has performed since the 1990s. This has made possible more accurate transcriptions of works from the Baroque and Romantic periods and has resulted in critically acclaimed recordings of works by Bach, Haydn, Brahms, and his own arrangements. He has received a Grammy award nomination, was a Billboard Top Ten Artist, and has had an album named as Critics’ Choice One of the Two Best Records of the Year.
The Hyde collection is located at 161 Warren Street in Glens Falls, NY. For advanced tickets, season tickets, or further information please call Artistic Director David Bullard at 518-792-2382.
